Week of August 24th

The Wade Scharff Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, September 20th in Spartenburg, SC. Wade was the father of David Scharff and Cheri Erhridge who died last year in an industrial accident. If you would like more info, see David.

Be in prayer for Ryan & Regina McCrea, friends of mine from college. Ryan was in a car accident Friday evening heading home from work. He's in ICU. Update - Ryan is now out of ICU but in a considerable amount of pain. His condition hasn't improved but it hasn't gotten worse either. The doctor thinks his recovery could take weeks. Be in prayer for this family as Regina is a lawyer with a heavy work load and has a baby due in October.

Robin Wood's father will be having hand surgery this week.

Ginger Dennis' son will be having surgery this week. Ginger is a friend of Penny Pirtle and used to attend East Brainerd.

Be in prayer for the RHEMA ministry that Rob Hatchett and Rachel Parker are heading up.

Pray for the Davis family. They have two daughters and both have cancer. Mr. Davis is a co-worker of Chris Richardson's.

Week of August 10th

Announcements

Small Group sign up continues.

Date Night sign up for volunteers went around today. There is a shortage this month on volunteers so if you can help out next week 5-8:30, please contact Kimberly Overberg at kicker2421@yahoo.com. If they can't find enough volunteers, they will cancel date night for the month. They may also be in the position where they need to forgo the ministry all together. If you can give up one Saturday evening a year to watch our children, all parents would be very appreciate!

A sign up sheet also went around for Date Night partcipants. If you want a Date Night on Saturday evening, be sure and sign up or let Kimberly Overberg know.

James and Lessie Williams will be back in Chattanooga either today or tomorrow. They may need help to move in since Lessie is weak. Maria Sessions plans to call Sarah Beth and see if there is anything we can do to help. Maria will let us know.

Pray for Rebecca Pearman's friend in Nashville, who she has been staying with while she is on bedrest (her friend, not Rebecca). Because of this, Rebecca's shower will probably be scheduled after she has her baby.

Ginger Mullins, Joe Delk's friend who recently had a baby, is doing much better. Praise God!

Continue to pray for Penny Pirtle. She's been recovering this weekend and should have an MRI in a few weeks after the inflammation has gone down.

Pray for baby Keegan. Gilly Wiseman took a hotline call at work and the baby's parents are apparently drug addicts and they are putting the baby in danger.

Pray for David Sessions brother. He broke his arm and is in quite a bit of pain.

Be in prayer for our parents, teachers, and students as many schools start up this week.

Week of August 3rd

Announcements

Baby shower for Tammy Bramlett will be this Tuesday, August 5th. It will be at Carabba's and it will start at 6:30. If you haven't RSVPed yet, please let me (Stephanie) know if you plan to come.

Our next class get-together will be next Sunday, August 10th at Plaza del Sol right after Bible class.

Sign up sheets went around today for volunteers for date night for the next 5 months.

A card and monetary donation envelope also went around today for the family of Judy Payne. She was the woman who's body they found at Cloudland Canyon. Her husband, Mark, is a co-worker of Aaron Mercer. Aaron says that the family is in financial need right now. If you didn't get a chance to donate any money for this family, see Aaron Mercer.

Be in prayer for Jimmy & Ginger Mullins. Ginger recently had a baby and she has had to be put in ICU. The baby is fine. Jimmy is a former roommate of Joe Delk.

Continue to pray for Jon & Ginger Dennis' baby. He is now 6 months old but only weighs 14 lbs. He will be having GI surgery in the next few months.

Robin Wood's dad has returned from Africa - praise God!

James and Lessie Williams are moving back to Chattanooga. A praise but be in prayer that the move goes smoothly for Lessie.

Be in prayer for our teachers and students returning to the classrooms soon. Also, remember our graduating seniors as they go off to college, work, service, etc.

Moving party for the Kiels' will be Saturday, July 19th, at 10am. Come ready to work! If you have any questions, call Casey.

VBS Samson skit practice will be this Wednesday night during class time. Please make sure and be there if you have a part in the skit. Our class will be performing on Tuesday night of VBS.

Announcements

Lanny Witt and Joey Hogan will start teaching our class the first week of July. We are looking forward to these Godly men teaching us more about the Word. Jason Robertson will be speaking next Sunday and Matt Wiseman will teach on Family Day. Matt has also volunteered to be the teaching coordinator.

Our class has been asked by Steve Gregg to perform a skit during VBS. Please let Penny Pirtle know which skit you would like to do for the kids.

Wee Worship will be starting the first week of July. This is a children's worship assembly for 3 and 4-year-olds. A sign up sheet went around for volunteers to do puppets, singing, story telling, activity centers, crowd control, etc. If you weren't in class and interested in participating, please see Penny Pirtle or Michelle Richardson.

Small group sign up for the fall continues. Please pick up a form in class or at the welcome center.

A contributing envelope went around for Kelly & Jane (Ledbetter) Cherry.

The church in Jamaica is still in need of supplies for the infirmary. The list was given in the bulletin of the things needed. Please put the items in front of the podium by next Sunday. Or cash donations are accepted too.

Shirley Richardson, Chris's mom, has had health problems but is doing much better and had good test results.

Lessie Williams is cancer-free but continues her treatments and is in a lot of pain.

Week of June 8th

Announcements

Congratulations to the class members who participated in kickball at the cookout last night. We beat the youth group team! Goes to show we're not as old as Aubrey thinks, right? :)

After some discussion, two men have been suggested to teach this quarter. They are Joey Hogan and Lanny Witt. They have already been approached and they are thinking about praying about their decision. We should do the same.

We will go bowling as a class on Sunday, June 29th at 4:00pm over at Holiday Bowl. There will be no church that Sunday evening.

Small group sign ups for the fall continue in the classroom and at the Welcome Center.

The EB CHICS are in need of small containers of hard candy to take out of the country for foreign missions. See the Welcome Center for the info on donations.

Week of June 1st

Announcements

Baby Shower for Dan and Karla Mathis will be next Sunday, June 8th from 4-5:30pm. There is a need for a few more hostesses so please see Penny Pirtle or Michelle Richardson if you can help. Also, if you would like to contribute toward a gift, give your money to Penny. Karla needs a stroller/car seat and this is her last shower.

Bowling at Holiday Bowl will be Saturday, June 29th at 4pm. It's Family Day so there will be no evening service.

With the resignation of 3 youth deacons, the youth group would like to see young couples involved with their activities. If there are any activities you are able to be a part of, please see Aubrey. There will be a cookout next Saturday, June 7th, at the church that will help kick off the summer and all are welcome to attend.

Small group sign up for the church this fall has now started. There were forms passed out today in class. Be sure and turn it in to the Welcome Center.

Matthew Lee, Penny Pirtle's 16-year-old nephew, will be having surgery soon from a staff infection in his arm and may be in a cast. He lives in Minnesota.

Pray for the Wagoners as they will be traveling to Europe next Sunday.

Since we have started a new quarter, we are in need of a teacher(s). We ask that everyone think about who might be a good teacher for our class for the quarter and approach them to see what their thoughts are. We are also considering having co-teachers from our own class so please be in thought and prayer this week as to who you think will be a good choice. We will bring our suggestions to everyone next week during class. Rick Schwieter, Eric's father, will be teaching our class next week.

Week of April 20th

Announcements

Class get-together for the month of May will be at the Schwieters' on Saturday, May 3rd. More details will be sent out in an e-mail this week.

Everyone is invited to a couples dinner for Will Brewer and Jennifer Berryhill at the home of the Robertson's on Saturday, May 10th at 6:00pm. Childcare is available but it's very limited so if you know someone who can keep your child(ren), that would be easiest.

The next Date Night is Saturday, May 3rd from 5:00-8:30pm. This will correlate with our class get-together so if you have children, drop them off and come on over to the Schwieters.'

The men in our class are being offered to speak once a month. We have now filled May 25th but we need someone for next Sunday, April 27th.

Alan Smith & Dustin Walker have requested some items for their time in Iraq. Alan requests small toys & candy. Dustin requests socks, baby wipes, & beef jerky. We took up a collection today for Dustin for those items but see someone in the church office for Alan's things.

Congratulations to Michael and Leslie (Sessions) Johnson who were married yesterday!

Congratulations to Rachel Parker and Rob who are engaged to be married on October 4th!

Week of March 9th

Thanks to Ben and Cheri for hosting our class party last night. We had a great time eating, visiting, and especially playing Mafia! The kids had a great time finding Easter eggs too! Scroll down the post for pictures from the party.

Sign up sheets went around for any men that would like to teach our class for one Sunday this year.
Sign up sheets for Date Night continues. Date Night is scheduled for Saturday, April 5th. If you have taken advantage of date night before, they do ask that the couple volunteers at least one month a year to babysit.

Continue to pray for James and Lessie. Lessie's doing better but their car was broken into and several things were stolen. We plan to send them care messages next week and we collected a monetary donation for their loses. We'll pass the can around next week again.

Penny is doing well and recovering at home after surgery.

Week of March 2nd

Announcements

The Ladies Retreat will be the March 28th-29th at Jim Oliver's Smokehouse on Monteagle Mountain. Sign up deadline is TODAY!

Our class party this month will be held at the Ethridge's on Saturday, March 8th from 5:30-8:30. Please sign up to bring a finger food and/or dessert. Also, plan to bring some money for the babysitter for childcare.

Next date night is scheduled for Saturday, April 5th. Sign up now to volunteer to help!

Meals for the Sessions' continues this week. Make sure you bring food if you signed up this week.
We plan to send James and Lessie Williams a package next week. It will include notes of encouragement from our class. If you are interested in participating, get your note in next week so we can send it off. Thanks!

Michelle Richardson's grandmother passed away this morning. Please remember Michelle's family during this time.

Penny Pirtle will be having surgery this Friday at Women's East. Amber is coordinating food for the Pirtles on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. See her if you want to bring food.

Carter's dad, Dick Fowler, will be having hip replacement surgery tomorrow morning.

Continue to remember those on our prayer list. Many were taken off the list today from answered prayers!

Eric's mother, Nancy, went home today after some complications following a medical procedure done last week.

Reed's father was taken to the emergency room this morning.

Dan & Karla received elevated test results in a scan for the baby and they will be seeing a specialist this week. Pray for a normal scan.

Hudson Jones, infant son of Chris and Jennifer, was been sick most of the week with a high white cell blood count. Please pray he gets better soon.

Alicia's job situation has gotten better but she still needs prayers.

We had a great time of fellowship at Five Guys today. Our next class activity will be in March at the Ethridges' home.

Lessie Williams received good reports after her reaction to medication.

Justus, Aubrey and Robin's baby, is having breathing difficulties. He will be tested for RSV.

Wade Curtis Scharff, David and Cheri's newborn nephew, was taken to the hosptial on Wednesday when his fever spiked. He has returned home.

Brennan Eckerd, 12-week old son of a friend of Jennifer Jones, is in the hospital with complications.

Be in prayer for Alicia Blevins - she has some personal and job related issues.

Remember the family of Karen Smith, who passed away this week from cancer. Karen's son is Eric's former boss and friend.

Emily Buffat went home this past week.

Zach Baile had a relapse but came home on Friday.

Be in prayer for Ann Tubbs, the woman who came forward in church this morning.

Pray for all the teens and those in our class who will be traveling to Winterfest next weekend. Pray that lives will change this incredible weekend.

Prayer Requests

Mrs. Smith, the mother of a former co-worker of Eric's, has cancer and doctors are giving her two months to live. Update 2/6 - Mrs. Smith passed away rather quickly yesterday morning. Please be in prayer for her husband Douglass, D.J. (Eric's co-worker) and the family.

Hunter Wills, friend of Jayme, has a fatal heart condition. He will have his Make-a-Wish done very soon.

Ethan Pirtle, son of Paul and Penny, will have surgery on Monday. He will have his adenoids removed and tubes replaced in his ears.

Also Penny’s nephew, Nathaniel Lee is at Mayo Clinic with a heart condition.

We also took up a contribution for the Parker family today.

Our class will be going to 5 Burgers and 5 Guys on Sunday, February 10th after class. Please let Maria or Julie know if you will be attending.

Don't forget about meeting this month for Supper Club! To let everyone know, the Woods' have been added to the Supper Club list and will be joining the group in the months that only have 2 families in the group.

Praise! Danny Thompson, Casey's dad, received results - he is cancer free!

Praise! John and Ginger Dennis' baby, former members at East Brainerd, is doing very well for being a preemie. He should be going home soon once he gains more weight.

Pray for the Betancourt family. They are a north Georgia family who lost a son in Iraq.

Lessie Williams is continuing her chemo treatments. She is doing well and has a great attitude.

Continue to remember Tim George as cancer has spread throughout his body.

Update 1/22/2008 - The Parker family, the family we helped at Christmas, is in need of a dryer. If you know someone who has recently purchased a new dryer and is needing to get rid of the older one, let Casey Kiel know.

Money is planning on being taken up on Sunday for adding minutes to Ms. Parker's cell phone. If you can contribute, please bring money on Sunday.

Tim George, a 1994 graduate from BBS, has cancer. Several in our class went to high school with Tim.

Ginger Dennis, former member at East Brainerd, gave birth to a premature son this week.

Casey's dad will receive his scan results this week. Pray for remission!

Jason's medical partner who recently moved to Chattanooga has a 15-month-old son who has Neuroblastoma. They are expecting another child as well.

Pray for Stephanie's family in the sudden passing of her 45-year-old cousin, Waynsie Miller.

Pray for Reid Scott, the little boy from CSLA that has cancer. Several blood drives are set up this week where each donation will receive a $10 donation for Reid's treatment. If you need any more info, see Kimberly Overberg.

Congratulations to Aubrey and Robin Wood! They are parents again to baby #2, Justus Brock. Robin's mother is in this week so food arrangements are pending. More than likely, they will start next week.

Emily Buffat was in a car accident on Christmas day and has had numerous surgeries. She is currently at Siskin and will be there for a while.

Supper Club lists from January-March were distributed today. If you were not there and didn't get your list, we still have copies available. Some of you voiced to me that you didn't know some people by their last name so we plan to make introductions in class next week so you can familiarize yourselves with everyone.

Lessie Williams has been diagnosed with cancer. Pray for Lessie, James, Bill and Sarah Beth during this difficult time.

Pray for the Watson family, friends of the Kiel's. They lost their father a few days before Christmas.

Pam Lee, Penny Pirtle's sister, is at the Mayo Clinic. She's lost a lot of fluid in the last month. She has 3 children.

A friends of Joy and Jill's (Jayme's sisters) passed away unexpectedly. He was 22-years-old.

Dustin Walker leaves for California tomorrow.

Update - Sunday Night - Jayme Dills' father, Steve Carter, was taken to the emergency room this afternoon. He was diagnosed with kidney stones. I called Jayme and he's doing much better.
